But first I must send my deepest and heart felt thanks to each and every one of you for the giving of your name, time and treasure.
Each of us have something special to give and as survivors we give HOPE to others. Six year old ViviAnne Bohannon could not had said it any better during her interview on WLKY the other morning when asked, what is so special about participating in the Fleur de Lis Regatta, she answered “I no longer have cancer so I can now help some one else”
This is our 2nd year in putting on this event as a 3rd party for the Leukemia and Lymphoma SocietyKentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter. Last year 2010 we were able to donate $16,000.00 to theKentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter. This year 2011 it looks like we are going to be able to donate approximately $13,000.00 after expenses. Even though we fell short of our overall DOLLAR GOAL we still make a considerable impact both monetary as well as awareness in finding a cure for blood related cancers. Our contribution continues to help support the Society’s mission of “providing quality of life to the patients and their families”
As for the top Sailing Vessel, their Captain and crew that raised the most donations the winner is? Sleuth with Captain Kent Picknell and 1st Mate Nicholaus Van Arsdale raising $1,220.00
I hope that you found this event both rewarding and entertaining for your entire family. Each year we continue to strive to make this a bigger and better event for everyone to enjoy and participate. We welcome your input as well as your continued support for next year’s REGATTA!
